Rhytidectomy (Facelifting)
OVERVIEW OF THE PROCEDURE:
Facelifting is performed to improve the appearance of facial skin
making it look younger. The required effect is achieved by lifting and
removal of lax, excess skin. Additionally, the swollen muscles and
fatty tissue are placed back to their original position. Through the
procedure the whole face looks youthful, the most spectacular results
being visible on the neck and cheeks. Rhytidectomy does not remove fine
facial wrinkles, the so called mimic wrinkles. To the effect of fina
lines reduction, eg. those around the mouth or eyes, other techniques
are used - deep peels (EXODERM,WEEKEND-PEEL), smoothing the skin
texture with the injections of substances: AQUAMID, BOTOX). The
incisions are made in the natural creases of the skin in the frontal
part of the ear and up to direction of the the temples, and behind ear,
in the hairline direction. The procedure can be performed with local or
general anaesthesia. Long hospitalisation is not required. In most
cases patients may return home on the day of the procedure.
HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE TO STAY IN THE CLINIC:
The post-surgery hospitalisation lasts one day. For 2-3 days fluid diet
is recommended. Stitches in front of ears are removed within 3-4 days
after the surgical treatment. Hair can be washed 5 days after the
procedure, which is also the day when certain limited social activity
is already possible. Removal of the remaining stitches within 7-10 days
after the procedure.
RECOVERY TIME:
Standard social activity is possible 14-16 days after the surgery. The
post-surgical scars are hardly noticeable. They are hidden among hair,
whereas those in front of ear are located in the typical skin crease in
this area.
Blepharoplasty
OVERVIEW OF THE PROCEDURE:
Eyelid surgery is performed to remove upper eye infolding, under-eye
bags, as well as fine lines around the eyes, possibly excess fat and
muscle. The procedure shall give the eyes a more youthful, alert
appearance. During the procedure the surgeon usually administers local
anaesthesia, often under the supervision of the anaesthesiologist (the
so called sedation). Incisions are made in natural skim creases,
parallel to the palpebral margin. The wound is closed with delicate
sutures.
RECOVERY TIME:
In most cases you can return to work after a week.
